NEWS
1/19/12 - NEW RECORD We've been hard at work trying to finish writing all the songs we've been working on for our next album. Finally starting to see some light at the end of this tunnel. Hopefully we will have mics up, and start capturing the sounds we have bouncing in our head's before the ground thaws. The album is conceptual in nature. It may or may not involve the tale of a mythical explorer traveling to the end of the earth. We'll see which direction the muse point us in. As Ferdinand Magellan said: More to come... 1/19/12 - TOUR DATES This March we will be stretching our legs a little bit, to shake off the dust we've accumulated while working in the studio. We'll be playing some of the tunes that will be on our new record, and sharing the stage with some very cool bands. Stay tuned, dates to be announced next week. Cheers 12/5/11 - New beginnings
This Friday we will be playing at The Southgate House in Newport, KY. It will most likely be the last time we will have the pleasure of playing on that magnificent stage in the ballroom. The Southgate House has meant quite a lot to all of us. It was a place where we all worked in one capacity or another (sound engineer, carpenter, manager) over the years. It was a place where we played some of the most exciting shows we ever played together (Hot Water Music, Mission Of Burma, Ed Crawford, etc...). It was a place that we were proud to say was our hometown jewel as we traveled together playing music all over this country, and beyond. If you come to the show Friday please remember the situation surrounding the real estate we know as The Southgate House isn't so much a sad ending, but a new beginning. There are a lot of good people who have, and continue to work very hard to provide such a cool outlet for original, independent music/art at The Southgate House. So let's raise a glass and toast all the good times we've had there, thank Ross & Morrella for persevering after all this time, and get ready for all the good times to come. Cheers, K+M+R |

BIO
Kevin: bass The fifth release from Ampline in twice as many years marks a stark departure from their solely instrumental beginnings. Having initially enjoyed certain liberties in regards to song structure by not having to worry about framing music around traditional verses and choruses, the band eventually began to use the subtle presence of vocal snippets to help steer listeners’ thoughts. On You Will Be Buried Here, that ‘subtle’ approach has been thrown out the window. They are not shy about tacking the ‘concept album’ tag on this one. Seventeen tracks culled from two and a half years of writing and touring explore the interrelation of man, nature, industry and theology. From mine collapses to the labor movement, from Dos Passos to Tesla, the songs weave a narrative of death, decay, invention and ‘progress,’ metering the growing gulf between corporal and spiritual. The band tracked the core of the album live at Candyland, their studio/practice space in Cincinnati, OH throughout 2009. They recorded, mixed and mastered it themselves with Montgomery at the helm. Cameron Cochran (the Sheds, Lions Rampant, Pop Empire) worked the tape machine on a few late nights, also lending his voice and keys to a handful of tracks. Artist Derek Toebbe painted the cover while Jerry Dirr (Phratry Records/ Knife the Symphony) handled the layout, printing and production. Jason Ward cut the plates for vinyl at Chicago Mastering. This release is available on CD and Vinyl from Phratry Records and Tiberius Records. Hi-Res Images For Download *All photos by Keith Klenowski |

PRESS
5/1/11 - Ampline defies classification... Ampline plays the type of music that makes genres irrelevant. You Will Be Buried Here crams 17 tracks of rock, punk, post-rock, post-punk, indie-pop, folk and more into 43 minutes. To say that it defies classification is like saying Picasso is a painter. It just doesn’t do the phrase justice. Ampline plays music, and they do it brilliantly. - Stephen Carrandini / Independent Clauses Full Article 8/16/10 - Tone and Groove: Plugging into Ampline You don't need a singer to make good rock music, and Cincinnati based Ampline are proof of that. I interviewed guitarist Mike Montgomery, bassist Kevin Schmidt, and drummer Rick McCarty when the band arrived in Huntington for their August 9 show. Here's what they had to say about going instrumental, the DIY life, and art patronage, among other things. Full Article |
